Fersa Group, a Pioneer in Zaragoza in Implementing a Professional Carpooling Model

Fersa Group, the Zaragoza-based multinational manufacturer of bearings, celebrates the first anniversary of its successful carpooling initiative in Zaragoza. This project, in collaboration with the start-up Hoop Carpool, has enabled employees to share their commutes to and from work using an app that connects drivers and passengers within the same company.

This initiative was born with the goal of promoting shared commuting among colleagues in a responsible, collaborative, and cost-effective way, while simultaneously contributing to the reduction of CO2 emissions and fuel savings in Zaragoza. Thanks to the app developed by Hoop Carpool, Fersa employees now have the option to offer and book rides in their colleagues’ vehicles, helping reduce traffic and emissions of harmful gases.

Technology Serving Sustainability

The platform allows Fersa employees to offer trips as drivers and their colleagues to book a spot in the vehicle. The app matches routes and schedules, making it easy for employees to contact each other and coordinate the ride. This solution not only promotes interaction among employees but also provides a more flexible transportation option, particularly for those whose bus routes do not align with their schedules or destinations.

“We combine office and factory profiles, many of whom work rotating shifts and had a great need for this. Additionally, it has given them the opportunity to network.”, Adrián Lafuente Rubio, HR Business Partner at Fersa

A Significant Impact on the Community

Fersa is proud to be the first company in Zaragoza to implement this sustainable transportation model, contributing to the reduction of traffic and improving air quality in the PLAZA industrial park, where the company is located. The initiative has led to fuel savings, a reduction in traffic congestion, and a decrease in emissions, all while fostering better interaction among colleagues.

According to the company’s Talent Area Manager, Adrián Lafuente, “Since its launch last year, 44% of employees at our Zaragoza facilities have already used the platform, more than 6,500 trips have been shared, and over 16,000 kg of CO2 emissions have been saved.” He added, “Not only has it had an economic and environmental impact, but it has also helped colleagues get to know each other better.”
